The Kick Out Plastic Foundation and Alboraya UD seal a collaboration agreement with the common goal of promoting environmental sustainability.
The new collaboration seeks to promote environmental awareness by working with one of the most important football academies in the Valencian Community. Lars Böcking, president of the Kick Out Plastic Foundation, and Xema Soler, president of Alboraya UD, have signed an agreement aimed at promoting sustainable development and better environmental practices in and from the club. Shared values and origin as well as common sensibility are the basis of this unique commitment.
Lars Böcking clearly highlights the value of this agreement:
“We are proud to have found such a strong partner. Alboraya UD is one of the best amateur clubs in the Valencian Community and shares all our values. It really is the perfect partner because we are talking about one of the largest academies in terms of number of children. Working well with them, exerts the kind of influence we are looking for: using the power of football to generate ecological awareness in society”.
“Our Foundation is international, but it was started in Valencia and we are delighted that our first major alliance is with a Valencian club and a club like Alboraya UD,” the Foundation’s president emphasizes. Important values like familiarity and humility are mixed with the ambition to be actively involved in the community. Therefore, the involvement of Valencian footballers such as Ferran Torres (Foios, Manchester City) and Ivana Andrés (Aielo de Malferit, Real Madrid) is that substantial.
Alboraya UD is one of the most important football academies in the Valencian Community, with around 600 children at all levels and age groups. For the Kick Out Plastic Foundation this project has great strategic value. Short-term action is fundamental and key to generating ecological awareness and educate new generations to implement a long-term improvement. Alboraya UD`s club culture, its origin and establishment make this a perfect combination and exciting project.
Xema Soler, president of Alboraya UD, underlines the strength of this union:
“We are very pleased with the agreement with Kick Out Plastic because, in addition to the sporting values that we instill, it is our responsibility to care about the education and social values of our players and their families.Little by little, with this education from an early age, we will achieve a world free of single-use plastics and reduce environmental problems.”
Alboraya UD’s interest and commitment has been very strong from the beginning of the talks with the firm intention of incorporating sustainability into the academy. With the help and advice of Kick Out Plastic, the football club is strongly committed to reducing its dependence on single-use plastic and doing its bit in the fight against climate change to become a role model in terms of environmental protection.
New water dispenser and reusable bottles
Kick Out Plastic will provide Alboraya UD with a professional water dispenser free of charge. Players, coaching staff and public can use it to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles. Furthermore, the school will be equipped with 500 personalized reusable bottles per year. A presentation event for the new water dispenser is planned in the near future, which will be attended by representatives and selected Kick Out Plastic ambassadors.
In order to raise awareness of environmental issues Kick Out Plastic will organize a series of workshops on environmental sustainability for the kids and youth players of Alboraya UD. The goal is not only to teach but motivate and encourage the participants to change their practices in terms of sustainability according to environmentally friendly standards.
Alboraya UD sporting the Kick Out Plastic logo
Another highlight of the partnership, which is set for two years plus two years’ extension, is the inclusion of an exchange program for players and staff with international clubs to support soccer activities and also promote the exchange about environmental practices and measures. In the upcoming 2021-22 season the official kit of all Alboraya UD teams will include the Kick Out Plastic foundation logo on the sleeve. Therefore, all players can sport the Kick Out Plastic logo in every game and share the message!
